There was an excellent turn-out for the SWAC 2nd Annual Wand Shoot this weekend, with 49 archers arriving to try their luck at shooting 6 inch wide targets at 100, 120 and 140 yards. The forecasted snow had made an appearance the evening before, but thankfully had all cleared overnight. A chilly start to the day but early sunshine and bacon rolls kicked off a thoroughly enjoyable shoot. Thank you to our Lady Paramount Michelle Loxley, Chairman of Judges Phil Collins and all of you for making the Sarum Triple Wand shoot such a relaxing and fun day.
The full results list and more photos of the shoot can be found on the main SWAC website
Next year’s competition will be on Sunday 3rd February 2013. We are considering a Quadruple Wand Shoot with the first 3 consecutive rounds shot by an archer to count for the competition score. This will enable archers with less travelling time to shoot rounds 1,2 and 3 (with round 4 as a warm down) and archers with more travelling time to shoot rounds 2,3 and 4 (unless they want an early start). We are also considering Wands at 180 yards for compound archers and Chris Baigent (to give the rest of us a chance). We welcome any feedback on these ideas.
