28th December -NFAS Open Field Shoot

Field Officers thank you:

Many thanks to the club members who helped to make, what appears to have been, a successful open shoot. Being my first open as Field officer I was keen for it to go well and, seeing as it is staged at the one time of the year when those with the experience of what needed to be done and who should do it were busy on domestic duties, it was at times testing.

The archers who turned up on the proceeding Friday were particularly welcome with Peter providing a necessary touch to deal with a awkward arboreal resident who decided to attack a boss at the last moment. The weather on Open Shoot day was benign and very pleasant and once again many of those who always help turned up to park cars, move targets, put out faces, which would not have survived a night of rain, and then provide support as marshals.

The competing archers seemed happy with the course apart from the ‘dreaded weasel’ and the only serious moan came not from a competitor but from a club member, well no surprise there then if you know who it was 😉

Special thanks to Lizzie who was a real sport all day and ended up even selling raffle tickets as I hadn’t recruited a seller, nor a Lady P so thanks to Sue too! Raffle tickets and Lady P, smacked wrist for me.

Once again thank you and a Happy New Year. David.
